Bear + Kind

Bear and Kind Apawthecary is a homegrown Australian pet care brand launched in 2020 to offer pawrents natural and eco-friendly skin and coat care products for sensitive furbabies. B + K was created by Sherry Cooper-Smith, a Canine Herbalist who previously owned a grooming salon in Melbourne for a number of years. After seeing countless dogs in the salon with sensitive skin that often reacted to shampoos available at the time, she began formulating her own products. As for the name... the 'Bear' is a nod to their product testers and resident cuddle bears (otherwise known as Murray River Retrievers), Mila, Hattie and Uncle Bear.

It also represents the natural simplicity of their products and the things you won't find in them (bare). The 'Kind' refers to the use of only natural and organic ingredients, being gentle on sensitive skin, and being kind to the planet. Every product is plant-based and handmade right here on their little farm in the tiny town of Barkly (no pun intended) in the beautiful mountains of the Pyrenees Ranges in country Victoria, Australia.

The primary ingredients are fair trade and certified organic or grown organically (100% chemical-free) by local producers. They use only certified organic botanicals and fresh produce (such as banana and carrot) for added goodness and add pure essential oils for their natural scent and other benefits to the skin and coat. Their products are strictly free of chemical nasties including synthetic fragrances and preservatives, SLS, parabens, sulphates, petrochemicals, palm oil and the like. They test their products on humans first and avoid any ingredient that is tested on animals.

Oh... they're also 100% non-toxic, so they are safe if your pupper licks them at any time. They're also fussy when it comes to the packaging. They pride themselves on being plastic-free... using 100% biodegradable Kraft paper packaging wherever possible, recycled paper product labels, and paper-based post packs, fill and cartons.
